Volunteer Point

Continuing on past the king penguins at Volunteer Lagoon is Volunteer point

A sheltered place perfect for watching the gentoo and king penguins in their natural environment.

Living alongside the mass of penguins we also have 750 breeding ewes. Like the other ewe camps these will be heavy in lamb or having lambs from September to January.

The track from the fence all the way down to the Point is really good. With only the one track to follow it’s a simple drive, passing sandy rolling beaches on the lagoon side of the Point and the rocky crashing coastlines of the north coast.

Whales can often be seen blowing off when looking out to sea and have also been known to put on a show off the Point.
